BACKGROUND reports have been ordered into a Galashiels man who admitted three offences.

Thirty-two-year-old Sam Finlayson pleaded guilty to uttering threats of violence towards a retail worker at the Spar shop in Marigold Drive, Galashiels, on May 9, last year.

He also admitted punching a police officer on the head and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner in Woodstock Avenue on the same date.

Sentence was deferred at Selkirk Sheriff Court until May 27 for the production of a Criminal Justice Social Work Report and a Restriction of Liberty Order assessment.
