Healthy future for Gala firm

PROSTRAKAN, the fastest-growing healthcare company in Europe, officially opened their new global headquarters in Galashiels this week.
The company has been based in the town since 1997, previously operating from their High Buckholmside offices.
The new premises, in the former Image Estates building in Galabank Business Park, adds to the company’s European offices in Paris, Munich and Madrid.
65 members of staff are based at the Galashiels office, which has been up and running since December 16.
Dr Wilson Totten, CEO of ProStrakan, was delighted with the new headquarters.
He said: “This move to larger premises is a reflection of ProStrakan’s strong growth over the past few years, both in the UK and throughout Europe.
“The Borders is an excellent place to do business from.
“As one of the few plcs based in the region, we are delighted to be putting down further roots in Galashiels and look forward confidently to further growth.”
Andy Kerr, minister for health and community care, officially opened the new headquarters on Monday.
He said: “Scotland is quickly gaining a strong position in the healthcare market.
“The fact that ProStrakan, one of the fastest-growing healthcare companies in Europe, is committed to the Borders is a sign of ongoing success.
“It was of huge interest to me in terms of the impact on the local economy.
“To have a genuinely global company based here is great for the Borders, and for Scotland.”
David Gass, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise Borders, said: “ProStrakan is one the region’s most valuable employers, providing high value employment in a sector which has huge potential for growth.”
