HUNDREDS of music fans from all over the Borders gathered in the grounds of Thirlestane castle at the weekend to enjoy ‘Lauder Live’ - a musical feast served up by some of Scotland’s most talented performers.

Keith Jack, the Edinburgh youngster who performed to millions of viewers as part of BBC’s Any Dream Will Do talent search last year, was a highlight for many on Saturday night as he performed a selection of classics from the musicals as well as new material from his upcoming album.

But variety was the flavour of the night and the well-loved Alexander Brothers also had many a toe a-tapping in the audience on Friday as guests enjoyed some dry weather and glimpses of evening sunshine.

Other treats included music from Old Benedict, House Sisters, Emerald Baroque and Pipedown, as well as performances by Rotary Young Musicians of the Year Charis Wallum, Olivia Hoppe and Christopher Farish.

Thirlestane Castle spokesperson Ian Garner told the Border Telegraph: “It went extremely well! The weather was a bit wet on Saturday but it certainly didn’t put the crowd or the artists off. All the performers were extremely talented and we hope it will be the first of an annual event. Hopefully it will be even bigger and better next year.”

Lauder Live was organised by the Lauderdale Development Trust and sponsored by Cala Homes and Border Events.
