AN APPLICATION to develop a ‘glam camping’ site in Bowden was submitted to Scottish Borders Council this week.
Local therapists Avril Berry and Alan Fraser submitted the plans, hoping to create a ‘rural retreat’ near their home at Bowden Mill.
The proposals include the building of eight traditional wooden caravans, also known as roulottes, which, it is hoped, would offer a unique experience of ‘glamping’, the concept of glamorous camping.
The couple also plan to use their experience as therapists to offer a range of services to visitors, including yoga and personal coaching, and promote local events, food and services.
The couple stated: “We would like to work more in the Borders where we have lived for seven years and this proposal would help us to work at home and be more involved with our local community.
“This new venture would certainly be open to those who live in the Borders as well as visitors to the area.”
