STEALING a television from the home of a man who was serving a custodial sentence resulted in a £200 fine and a £50 compensation order being imposed.

Harrison Long, 17, - who is also behind bars and due to be released this month - was spotted with another man pushing a an office type chair with large silver TV screen through the streets of Langlee on July 8.

They both claimed the householder had owed them money and they entered the insecure premises and took the television.

Long, who normally resides in Halliburton Place, Galashiels, had the first instalment of his fine delayed six weeks to allow his benefits to resume on release from custody.
