Biggest game for ref Andrew
BORDERS referee Andrew McMenemy flies off to Dublin this week to take charge of the Ireland v. Italy under-19 match.
It will be one of Andrew's biggest assignments.
Iain Heard, referee development officer for the Borders, told us: "Andrew has coem on very well this season and is seen as a very good prospect for the future.
"He has been promoted to our Grade 2 this year, which is just below the High Performance Unit who provide the referees for all the professional games.
"He has performed very well this season at the higher level and this appointment is just reward for these performances.
"He refereed at an Under-18 Festival a few years ago, but this will be his biggest game so far."
Andrew has been refereeing Premiership1 this yera and recently went on exchange to the RFU a couple of weeks ago and is doing well.
Mr Heard held a refereeing course last week and is taking touch judging course this week (Wednesday) at Melrose with all welcome.
