Fairydean fancy for Leeds
By David Knox
Vice chairman of Gala Fairydean Simon Gillie took full advantage of finding his team sharing their hotel in Ireland with Leeds United.
The security boss enjoyed a chat with Elland Road boss Gary McAllister.
And hopes the Leeds players may make a trip to the Borders over the next few seasons.
Mr Gillie told the Border Telegraph: “The Leeds boys certainly know all about Gala Fairydean and there’s no reason we can’t invite them up to play us at Netherdale.
“The players, coaches and manager were extremely friendly to all of our party and I would like to think they will remember us.”
Gala Fairydean enjoyed their first ever game in Europe on Saturday afternoon where boss Bryan Templeton enjoyed a 5-3 success.
But the match was only a small part of a big weekend for the Gala players who have strengthened links with Meath side Enfield Celtic.
