The unique Robert Burns 2014 Diary
‘Burns and Freedom’
In this edition, the 15th in the series, our narrative is entitled ‘Burns and Freedom’ - a theme which will be very much in the public eye as 2014 is the 700th anniversary year of the famous Battle of Bannockburn.
Robert Burns was a devotee of all that concerned the glory of Scotland and it’s fight for independence under the leadership of William Wallace, Robert the Bruce and Charles Edward Stuart.
After reading an account of the life of William Wallace, Burns wrote “A Scottish prejudice was poured into my viens, which will boil there till the flood-gates of life are shut in eternal rest.v
That sentiment is evident in his lyrics of the song “Scot’s Wha Hae,” written by Burns after he had visited the field on which the famous battle was won. It was published in a Scottish newspaper in 1794 without any reference to the poet. After reading this narrative you will understand why!
Beautifully finished, the diary has a gold blocked cover that carries Burnss head and shoulder pose, with metal corners, gold page edges, a ribbon marker and perforated page corners.
This is the only Burns diary in the world and is available now in four colours to buy online for just £5.99 plus postage & packing.
