WILTON Lodge Park’s walled garden will set the stage for iconic Scottish singer-songwriter Dougie MacLean to perform on Sunday 26 June.

Wilton Lodge Park’s Events Manager Gordon Webber said: “We are thrilled to be hosting Dougie for our first concert in the walled garden.

“It will be a first for him to perform in the park and a first time to try the walled garden as a ticketed venue. The appeal of Dougie’s music will draw ardent fans and hopefully attract some new ones from the area.”

Best known for his anthem Caledonia, his music has been used in Hollywood films, TV dramas and been the subject of three BBC TV documentaries.

His songs have been covered by hosts of artists including Scottish stars Paolo Nutini and Amy MacDonald, as well as Ronan Keating, Mary and Frances Black, Dolores Keane, Deanta and Cara Dillon and Grammy Award-winning US country singer Kathy Mattea.

Dougie MacLean was awarded an OBE in the New Year’s Honours list in recognition of his services to music and charity.

He has also received two prestigious Tartan Cleff Awards, been inducted into the Scottish Music Hall of Fame and given a Lifetime Achievement Award by the BBC.

The concert starts at 2pm, with opening support from local fiddler Eryn Ray and guitarist Scott Turnbull.

Seating will be provided with some space for picnic blankets.

Tickets are available from the VisitScotland box office at the Heart of Hawick or by phoning 01450 360688. Tickets are limited for this event

The events programme in Wilton Lodge Park is part of the £3.64million regeneration project which is funded by Scottish Borders Council and Heritage Lottery Fund.
