TWO of the country's leading young musicians are coming to Selkirk on Saturday.

As guests of the Riddell Fiddles, award-winning duo Sally Simpson and Catriona Hawksworth will promote their latest album, Duo, at the Connections Centre.

Sally and Catriona form a striking and dynamic duo of fiddle and piano, playing repertoire from the Scottish traditions alongside new compositions.

Their music is primarily influenced by Scottish music whilst also incorporating elements of traditions from further afield.

Both musicians began playing at a young age, learning classical as well as folk and traditional music.

They then developed their playing at the RSAMD Junior Academy, followed by some time studying at the National Centre for Excellence in Traditional Music in Plockton.

Sheila Sapkota from Riddell Fiddles told us: "We want to support these two young musicians who have been so much part of Riddell Fiddles with Sally one of our visiting tutors.

"One of the new tracks features our very own guitarist Donald Knox's self penned tune - which was written in 2006 on a trip to Cape Breton."

Sally Simpson and Catriona Hawksworth will take to the Connections stage in Back Row at 7.30pm.

Tickets are £8 (£6) and are available on the door.
