YO!, the UK’s most famed Japanese food operator, has opened up a new restaurant in Glasgow city centre.
The bustling eatery, located on West George Street, serves up the culinary classics, as well as newly curated, vegan and vegetarian dishes.
Personally, I feel as if YO! is a restaurant that understands me; a conveyor belt of never-ending, lip-smackingly delicious food.
There’s a fine selection of hot and cold choices, all freshly prepared from local produce.
My personal favourite is the chocolate mochi. Those sweet rice balls with a rich chocolate ganache centre are to die for – quite literally as I stuffed my face with them.
The popcorn shrimp (tempura prawns drizzled with a sweet shiro miso and chilli sauce) and furikake fries (Japanese style fries coated in sriracha mayo and sprinkled with yuzu furikake, sesame, aonori and smoky bonito flakes) are well worth ordering. I also suggest grabbing a range of sushi rolls and temakis from the belt – the more the merrier to fully enjoy all the options on offer.
The Glasgow restaurant’s interior is modern with an origami-inspired ceiling, the staff are extremely warm and welcoming, the food is tasty and filling. What’s not to love?
