CLASSICAL Music and cappuccinos will be served up this weekend by some of the region's finest young musicians.

The Borders Youth Orchestra and the Junior Wind Band will both perform throughout Saturday at a fundraising coffee morning for Border Young Musicians in Galashiels Academy.

The morning of coffee and cakes will be the first chance this session to hear members of the two bands, who have been rehearsing weekly since the end of August.

Both ensembles received expert coaching from members of the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra back in June and are now working towards a concert on Sunday, November 19 which will feature music from the BBC Ten Pieces repertoire.

Following the coffee morning Borders Young Musicians will be holding its AGM.

Borders Young Musicians is a parent/teacher/friends organisation formed in 1986 to support area music activities and is always on the lookout for new members to help raise funds and lend support at regional music events.

The coffee morning at Galashiels Academy takes place between 10am and 12noon on Saturday, September 23.
