AN amateur photographer from near Melrose is hoping to put a fundraising campaign at the BGH in the frame.

Over the next month David Wolfenden will host his own pop-up gallery at Old Gala House in Galashiels.

The Bemersyde-based photographer has a growing reputation for his close-up portraits of some of the rich variety of wildlife to be found in the contrasting habitats of Scotland, ranging from the Borders to the Highlands and Islands.

David’s images have won awards in international photography salons in the UK as well as in Europe, the Middle East, India, Australasia and North America.

However, as an amateur photographer he does not normally offer his work for sale preferring to pursue his hobby solely for his own pleasure.

But from this Saturday (May 12) until Sunday, June 17 there will be a rare chance to purchase some of David's striking images - and proceeds will go to Borders Macmillan Cancer Centre, which is currently being refurbished and improved.

David told us: "The mounted and framed photographs will be available to buy and I am donating my proceeds from sales to support projects at the Borders Macmillan Cancer Centre which provides chemotherapy and cancer care services to all patients living within the Scottish Borders area.

"Since retiring from work I have spent the last ten years photographing British wildlife.

"My aim is always capturing images of the behaviour of birds and mammals in their natural environments."

David's exhibition and sale of work will run from Saturday through to Sunday, June 17.

Old Gala House is open from Tuesday-to-Saturday from 10am to 4pm.
