If you wannabe watching a Spice Girls themed stage show this summer, then you better get down to the Thameside Theatre.

Wannabe - The Spice Girls Show is the first in a major UK-wide tour of a theatre show with a Spice Girls theme.

Similar to Gary Barlow’s Let it Shine and the well-established Mamma Mia, the show will be a stage musical packed with songs from the biggest selling girl band of all time.

The Spice Girls started released their first single, Wannabe, in 1996 and immediately became a household name in the UK.

They separated only three years later in 1999, but left a lasting mark on the pop world.

Since then they have reunited several times to perform concerts and even release music.

But their popularity has not disappeared and people in Grays will be able to enjoy their music again as part of a stage show.

Anna Slater, who is representing the band, said: “We’re all obsessed with 90s music and we wanted to make a big splash with this huge concert tour.

“We’re creating the ultimate girls night out and who doesn’t know the words to Spice Up Your Life or Stop?

The tour will begin on September 3 in Crawley, West Sussex and end on November 25 in Newport, Wales.

They will appear at the Thameside in Grays on Friday, September 15 and the show will begin at 7.30pm.

Well-known tunes will be included in the show such as Viva Forever, Stop, 2 Become 1, Spice Up Your Life and, of course, the song the title of the show is named after.

The Spice Girls had a whopping nine number one singles in the UK and all went on to enjoy solo careers after that.
