FASHION students in Galashiels had their designs on raising money to help change the lives of some of the poorest people on the planet.

Steph Booth, the newly-appointed Sports Officer at the Heriot-Watt University in Galashiels, organised the Bad Fashion Mile in aid of Sport Relief on Wednesday.

A squad of students donated a pound each to take part in sun-kissed strut around the campus at Netherdale in their glad rags and glitter. It was one of a series of fundraisers taking place across the Borders.

Steph said the fashion disaster was so bad it was good. She said: "The students have all got a lot of deadlines coming up so we just wanted to organise something simple.

"Some people dress as wild as this on a daily basis so some might not say it's bad fashion." But she added: "It's all for a good cause."

The students raised 130 during the 45 minute walk.
