A POPULAR pipe band drummer from the Borders has died suddenly on holiday.

Martin Lindsay became unwell during a family holiday in the Turkish resort of Marmaris.

The 40-year-old from Selkirk died shortly after returning to his hotel room on Sunday.

Tributes have now been paid to the member of Scottish Borders Pipe Band.

A statement on the the Band's social networking site said: "All of us at SBPB extend our deepest sympathy to the family of Martin Lindsay who sadly passed away on Sunday.

"Martin was a long term member of Stow pipe band and best friend to us all.

Rest in peace Martin."

Mr Lindsay was employed at the Pensions Agency in Tweedbank.

There are understood to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death, which is believed to have been from natural causes.

Mr Lindsay worked with the Scottish Public Pensions Agency at Tweedbank.

Arrangements are currently being made with the Turkish authorities to fly Mr Lindsay's body back to Scotland.
