A COMPANY founded eight years ago by Galashiels entrepreneur Andy Smith has been recognised in a prestigious league table.

IT services provider Agenor Technology, now based at Tweed Horizons, is one of only five Scottish businesses included in the new Sunday Times Hiscox Tech Track 100 which features British technology, media and telecoms firms with the fastest growing sales over the past three years.

With average annual growth over that period of 74.55%, Agenor, which counts the Royal Bank of Scotland among its clients, is ranked 39th in the league table.

Mr Smith, who is chief executive officer, has set his sights on doubling the current £10m annual turnover and increasing permanent staff from 31 to 75 over the next three years.

He told the Border Telegraph: “Ranking so high in the Tech Track 100 is an acknowledgement of the progress we have made on both the professional services side of the business and also the development of our cloud software platform ICEFLO which gives organisations risk-free control when deploying complex technology change.

“One of the biggest factors in this success story has been the maintenance of the quality standard that initiated our growth. Our clients come to us with very specific requirements and expect high calibre, experienced people.

“As a Borderer, I am particularly pleased to see this region benefiting from our growth as we continue to recruit for skilled positions in application design, development and customer service.

“The opening of the new Borders Railway railway line has also been a welcome development for our business as it supports our ability to service clients and attract talented individuals living within this region.”
