TWO women were left traumatised after armed robbers raided a store in the Borders this morning (Monday).

Police are appealing for information following the attack on the Original Factory Shop in Kelso.

Three men, one of whom is believed to have been armed with a tazer gun, entered the shop on Bowmont Street around 9am.

They assaulted two members of staff with what police described as "an electrical implement" before escaping with a sum of cash.

A rust coloured Toyota Celica, believed to be the getaway vehicle, was found dumped in a Sainsbury’s car park on the outskirts of Kelso.

The men are described as looking dishevelled and wearing green balaclavas.  One had a Scottish accent and another had an English accent.

Armed officers raced to the scene after the alarm was raised and officers remained in attendance this evening.

The Scottish Ambulance Service were also called out to treat the two assaulted women. One member of staff was taken to Borders General Hospital as a precaution, however she did not require further medical attention.

Police are now appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Detective Inspector Paul Batten said:  “This is a serious incident which has left two female members of staff traumatised.

“These men showed no regard for their wellbeing and we are eager to trace them as soon as possible.

“Anyone who was in the area at the time of incident and saw anything suspicious, or saw the rust coloured Toyota Celica in the vicinity, is asked to contact police immediately.”

Those with information can contact Police Scotland on 101 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
