POLICE continue to target drug dealers in Galashiels as part of Operation Hawksbill.

On Friday, October 2, local and specialist officers, acting on intelligence, traced four males, aged 19, 19, 20 and 27, in Church Square and arrested them for the supply of heroin.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a 34-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were detained in the town's Laurel Grove and later charged with Diazepam supply.

All have been reported to the Procurator Fiscal and are expected to appear in court at a later date.

Inspector Michael Bennett of Police Scotland, said: "Drug crime is one of the priorities for police in the Scottish Borders and acting on vital information we have successfully traced and arrested six people in connection with the illegal drugs trade.

"Drugs are a blight on our communities and we will continue to work closely with our partners and the public to ensure those involved are swiftly brought to justice.

"It goes without saying that we have a zero tolerance approach towards drug dealers and anyone who wants to report drug crime in their area can do so by contacting police on 101 or, alternatively the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
