INTERNATIONAL pizza chain Domino's moved into Galashiels this week.

And it could soon be followed by another fast-food giant early in the new year.

Work is currently ongoing in Channel Street to turn a former chip shop into a branch of the world's largest pizza chain.

Recruitment of staff is under way and the parlour is expected to open during the second week of December.

Many believe the arrival of Domino's is another sign of recovery on the Galashiels high street.

And Scottish Borders Council leader David Parker has revealed that KFC (Kentucky Fried Chicken) are also looking for premises in the town.

Councillor Parker stated: "Companies like KFC have very specific requirements and it's highly unlikely that the units available in Douglas Bridge, Channel Street and Bank Street would meet these requirements.

"They may also want drive-through in a town the size of Gala."
