LAUDER Post Office is closing for one week as it gets a modern make-over, with the new and improved service opening on Friday, February 19.

The office, at 18 Market Place, will have to close at 5:30pm on Thursday, February 11, for the refurbishment to take place. During this period of closure Post Office services may be accessed from the nearest premises in either Stow or Galashiels.

The new service, which will launch at 1pm on Friday, February 19, will be provided at an open-plan counter in the store, where the Post Office terminal will sit alongside the till.

The Post Office service will be available during the store’s opening hours, 8:30am to 5:30pm Monday to Friday and 8:30am to 12:30pm on Saturday.

Local residents and small business customers will be able to access a wide range of mails services, including Special Delivery, Local Collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.

Other services include withdrawals using a Post Office Card Account, sending funds abroad using Moneygram, and customers can also pay bills, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.

Kenny Lamont, Area Manager said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the local community will meet customer needs. This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future.”
