SELKIRK has unveiled Rory Monks as its 2016 Standard Bearer.
The 28-year-old banker was carried shoulder-high on the customary Standard Bearer's chair around the ancient streets of the Royal and Ancient Burgh this evening.
Despite the threat of snow throughout much of the day it was glorious sunshine that welcomed the three-times attendant as he emerged from the Town Hall.
In his first interview following his official appointment, Rory told the Border Telegraph: "That was an amazing welcome tonight from the people of Selkirk.
"I woke up this morning and I thought I'd need to look out my waterproofs, but thankfully the snow went away and the sun came out."
Rory follows in the footsteps of his father, Keith, who was Standard Bearer in 1984, and his grandfather, Drysdale, who carried the Burgh Flag in 1954.
Dad Keith and mum Iona were on the Town Hall balcony to witness their son being unveiled as the 2016 Standard Bearer.
Keith told us: "We are both very, very proud."
