SELKIRK celebrated last night with the Appointment of 2016 Standard Bearer Rory Monks.
The 28-year-old was carried shoulder high around his hometown before being officially welcomed at the Appointment Night Concert in the Victoria Hall.
Rory told us: "I am absolutely thrilled."
Standard Bearer Monks has been Attendant on three occasions – in 2005, 2006 and 2015.
By his side for his big day in June will be 25-year-old Kieran Riddell, 24-year-old Aaron McPherson, Mathew Stanners and Sam Coultherd, who are both 18.
While the other three have already experienced the thrill of riding the Marches as official Attendants it will be a new experience for jockey Sam.
He told us: “I’m probably as excited as Rory. It is a great honour to become an Attendant.”
