A RUSSIAN Princess and a Victorian bride are just a few of the intriguing characters beckoning you to Selkirk this weekend.

A historical spectacle - bringing a century of stories to life - comes to The Haining on Saturday and Sunday.

The Palladian mansion is celebrating life from 1830 to 1930 and opening its doors to share its history and heritage with the community.

The weekend is jam-packed with activities and there will be something for all the family with an interactive Victorian classroom and laundry, a penny farthing and Victorian vehicles, a bear hunt, and a miraculous performing goat.

Characters in period costume will be wandering around the ornate and lavishly decorated hallways to both entertain and inform the guests, and outside, there will be birds of prey and petting farmyard to enjoy.

And for those who particularly want to get into the spirit of the weekend, there is a period fancy dress competition.

The event is on Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29, 10am - 4.30pm.

Adults £6, Concessions £4, Children £3, Under 5s go free.
