THE family of an 81-year-old man who died after being hit by a lorry on Thursday have paid tribute to him.
Great grandfather William Downie was struck by an HGV near his Lamancha home on the A701 just after midday.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
In a statement issued through Police Scotland his family said: "We are devastated at our loss of a much loved husband, dad, gramps, great-gramps, brother and uncle.
"He will be sorely missed and we are comforted by the messages from the community, who valued his help and friendship over the many years."
Police are still appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
Sergeant Gary Taylor of the Road Policing Unit, said: "Our thoughts are with the family of William Downie at this very sad time and we will continue to offer them support as and when they need it.
"Our inquiries into the circumstances that led up to this collision are ongoing and I ask anyone with relevant information to contact police on 101 if not already done so."
