BORDERS Railway passengers should expect severe disruptions this week as ScotRail staff plan a number of strikes - starting tomorrow (Tuesday).

Those hoping to travel on trains between Tweedbank and Edinburgh, as well as other services across Scotland, should check online for updates before they travel, however are advised that "severe disruptions and cancellations" are expected all week - starting from midnight tonight.

Transport union RMT has advised their members, ScotRail conductors and instructors, to strike due to the extension of 'driver only operation' on trains. 

RMT General Secretary Mick Cash said: ‎"The workforce know that any extension of Driver Only Operation (DOO) is a clear attack on our members hard earned terms and conditions.

"RMT members should not have to face the risk of their role and responsibilities being reduced and undermined."

The strike action is planned for:
Tuesday, June 21, Thursday, June 23, Saturday, June 25, Sunday, June 26, Sunday, July 3, Sunday, July 10, Sunday, July 17.
