SEVERAL laptops, tablets, and a two figure sum of cash were stolen from a business property in Melrose in the early hours of this morning.

The incident took place between midnight and 2.40am on Monday, June 20, on St Mary's Road.

Police are now appealing for witnesses.

Detective Constable James Harrison of Galashiels CID: "Anyone who may have seen suspicious behaviour in the area during this time is asked to come forward.

"I'd urge all business owners to remain vigilant and ensure that simple security measures, such as the locking of doors and windows, are taken overnight.

"I'd also ask the public to be wary if offered items that match these descriptions, and for which the owner cannot provide proof of purchase.

"If you buy stolen items, knowingly or unknowingly, they can be returned to their original owner meaning a financial loss for yourself."

Anyone with information is urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
