GALASHIELS Studio Club and Galashiels Rotary have combined forces to encourage young artists in Galashiels Academy.
The two Galashiels organisations have worked with the school to develop a Young Artists’ Award in which prizes have been awarded by the Rotary Club for the best two paintings done by pupils in S1-3 and S4-6. Local artists Deborah Campbell from Peebles and Siobhan O’Hehir from Ancrum, together with Katherine Awlson of the Studio Club were the judges.
The winning works of the young people, along with many other excellent pictures, are on show at the Galashiels Studio Club Exhibition which continues in the Christopher Boyd Gallery at Old Gala House until Friday, July 2(closed Friday, June 17). Admission is free.
The winners are:
Seniors: 1st - Glen Frizzell S6, 2nd Sarah Glenfield S6
Juniors: 1st – Hannah Sherratt S3, 2nd – Noemi Kolodziej S2
