TWO suspected drug dealers from Galashiels have made a private court appearance after the recovery of heroin with a street value of almost £5,000.

Samuel Wightman, who is 50, and 51-year-old James Munro were charged with being concerned in the supply of a class A drug.

Wightman faces an additional charge of threatening or abusive behaviour.

Police Scotland said the two men had been arrested as part of Operation Gatekeeper.

Officers carried out an intelligence-led search of two addresses in Galashiels on Wednesday resulting in the recovery of diamorphine with an estimated street value of £4,900.

Wightman and Munro, both from Galashiels, made no plea or declaration at Selkirk Sheriff Court and their cases were continued for further examination.

They were granted bail by Sheriff Peter Paterson.
