CHRISTMAS, Easter and harvest hymns will be ringing through one local church on Sunday (July 24).

A special evening service will celebrate the finale of a week long Flower Festival at St Andrew’s Episcopal Church.

It is always open house at the church, but this week the doors have been open even wider than usual to welcome visitors to the town during Kelso Civic Week.

The church is packed with floral decorations depicting hymns from the whole church year and on Sunday everyone is welcome to join the congregation in singing all the featured hymns.

The floral displays have been arranged by members of the congregation of St Andrew’s, with further contributions from Kelso North Church of Scotland and St Mary’s Roman Catholic Church.

The event, which has been sponsored by A Hume’s Country Clothing, Kelso and organised by church member Clova Reid, is open from 10 to 4.30 until Saturday.

And for those who like cake there is a new Open House event which last week resulted in around 50 members of the local community enjoying refreshments, along with the opportunity to choose and sing their favourite hymns. It was such a success that it is now to be a regular event on the second Monday in the month at 3pm. Everyone is welcome.
