POLICE in the Borders are appealing for witnesses after flowerbeds were vandalised in Hawick town centre.
A number of recently planted flowerbeds have had the plants ripped from them, destroying them.
The incidents happened in North Bridge Street and Teviot Crescent in Hawick at some point between 11.45pm on Sunday, July 17 2016 and 1.30am on Monday, July 18 2016.
Volunteers from the local community had carried out the planting a few days earlier with funding from local business owners and other individuals for the annual "Britain in Bloom" competition.
Community Constable Stephen Gibson said, "This is a mindless act of vandalism which has left the community shocked and dismayed.
"I am keen to hear from anyone with information about this incident that can help us to trace those responsible."
Anyone with information is asked to call Police on 101 or email HawickHermitageCPT@Scotland.pnn.police.uk
Alternatively you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 if you wish to remain anonymous.
