DRIVERS are being warned to take care on the Melrose bypass following a crash earlier this morning.

Two vehicles collided close to the entrance of Borders General Hospital just before 7.15am.

A man had to be cut free from the wreckage of one car before being taken to the nearby hospital for treatment.

And a woman from another vehicle was also treated for minor injuries.

Police report that there is an oil spillage on the carriageway following the crash.

A spokesman said: "The carriageway will be cleaned but at the moment we are asking drivers to progress slowly."

Fire crews from Galashiels and Selkirk attended the A6091 collision between the Citroen Xara and Skoda Citigo.
