ORGANISERS of this year's Charity and Good Causes Rideout around Selkirk have issued a final rally call.

This Sunday's ride, which takes in the beauty of the Ettrick and Yarrow valleys, will leave the town at 8am.

And entries can still be made to the Selkirk Ex-Standard Bearers Association.

A spokesman for the Association told us: "Everyone is welcome.

"The rideout is open to riders from all Borders towns and beyond.

"Entry forms are still available on the event's Facebook page or from David Anderson at Tweedside Financial Services in Selkirk High Street. "

Last year's ride raised over £2,500 for good causes.

And it is hoped this year's ride will build on the success.

Sunday's cavalcade will progress from the Royal Burgh through the Bowhill Estate and up the spectacular Duchess's Drive to the Swire.

A planned stop at the Gordon Arms will take place at around 11.45am for just over an hour.

The riders will than head up Yarrow Water to Yarrow Kirk then over by Fastheugh and Black Andrew.

The return route also takes in Carterhaugh, Hartwood Burn and Peel Gate.

And they are expected back into the Market Place at around 4pm.

The spokesman added: " Could we just ask all spectators to respect the landowners' access to their land, to follow the instructions of the foot marshals at all times and take home all rubbish.

"Refreshments and entertainment will take place afterwards in the Selkirk Conservative Club."

Entries close at 8pm on Friday - any entries after lunchtime on Friday should be directed to Gordon Hislop on 07811 978410.
