A 54-year-old Hawick man has appeared in private at Jedburgh Sheriff Court accused of assaulting a man to his injury and robbing him.
Edward Tamms of Weensland Road, also faces a charge of possession of a sword.
He made no plea or declaration and the case was continued for further examination.
It follows an incident in Hawick at the weekend.
Tamms was remanded in custody by Sheriff Peter Paterson.
