A PRIMARY school teacher from Selkirk collapsed and died during a Santa run on Saturday.
Evelyn Rafferty was among 150 runners taking part in the Santa Jog at Bowhill Country Park.
The 59-year-old was treated by ambulance staff but was pronounced dead at the scene.
Ev, who was semi-retired, was a well-known golfer and hockey player as well as a popular teacher at Knowepark Primary School.
Her husband, Bennie, is heavily involved with Selkirk Rugby Club, and as a mark of respect the club cancelled its annual dinner on Saturday evening.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police received a report of a woman who collapsed within the Bowhill Country Park in Selkirk on Saturday during a charity run.
"The 59-year-old was treated by ambulance staff but passed away at the scene.
"There appear to be no suspicious circumstances surrounding this death and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal."
