A HAWICK man who used racially offensive language to a man he had fallen out with has been ordered to carry out 100 hours unpaid work.
Jamie Wilson's abusive comments were heard by a 999 operator as his victim was already reporting him for a previous incident that day.
Jedburgh Sheriff Court was told the comments about the man being half-caste and should go back to his own country were picked up on the 999 tape.
Procurator fiscal Graham Fraser said Wilson and the man had fallen out on July 8 and there had been some "to-ing and fro-ing" during the course of the day which led to the 999 call.
Twenty nine year old Wilson of Fraser Avenue, pleaded guilty to a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour and using racially offensive language.
