SATURDAY was a day of tremendous festive fun in Cowdenbeath.

On Saturday lunchtime Santa came to town and immediately he stepped off the train he was the centre of attention.

He was soon on the move up the main shopping thoroughfare of the town and the packed pavements had children hoping to get a wave from him.

After taking a trip up the High Street he took up residence in his grotto at the sold out children’s Christmas Party at the Leisure Centre. Some 250 kids had a brilliant time at the party.

From noon to 6pm there were stalls and entertainment at the Green Square including Apollo Discos, local covers band Freebird (3.30-5.00pm) and an appearance from the Cowdenbeath Community Choir!

Santa also made an appearance on the guitar with Freebird and the audience really enjoyed.

At the back of 4pm Santa and his torchlight procession left Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre and make their way to the Green Square for the Christmas Lights Switch-On.

It was a busy time at the Green Square with the lights going on and Cowdenbeath's Christmas officially starting.

On Sunday, from noon to 4pm, the Christmas Fayre took place at Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre.

There were 30 stalls selling a wide range of unique and handmade gifts, cakes and waffles, facepainting, glitter tattoos, Santa’s Grotto, Snow Globe Photos, and much, much more!

The hall was busy all day with people searching for, and finding, answers to their Christmas present questions.

All in all a great start to Christmas in the town with the Christmas Concert to follow at the Beath and North Church on December 20, again featuring the Cowdenbeath Community Choir.
