ALL roads in the Borders remain open despite reports of heavy snow showers - although several B roads are only passable with care.

Gritters have been out throughout the early hours of this morning as temperatures drop below freezing.

And, apart from one school service in Peeblesshire, all busses are operating as normal.

A Scottish Borders Council spokesman told us: "The operator cancelled the P17 service from Dolphinton and West Linton to Peebles due to the weather.

"Otherwise we have not incurred any other disruption due to the weather."

Forecasters believe the current snow will clear later this afternoon before a fresh front of wintry weather will return to the region tomorrow.

Scottish Borders Council bosses will meet at 11am to discuss the weather situation.

The spokesman added: "We don't foresee further problems at the moment but we will hold a meeting once the latest Met Office report becomes available."
