SUPPORTERS of local charity the Rowan Boland Memorial Trust will get the ball rolling in 2017 with a hugely popular fundraising event in Galashiels.

And they are sending out special invitations to anyone who would like to join them next month.

The Rowan Boland Memorial Trust annual ball has proved hugely popular since it was launched in 2013.

And has raised thousands of pounds to support young sportspeople from all over the Borders.

This year’s ball is held on Saturday, February 4 in the Volunteer Hall, with music being provided by local favourites Fahrenheit and Bon Accord Ceilidh Band, and food and refreshments by Niki’s Bar.

Dave Boland, Chairman of the Trust, said: “We handed out almost £13,000 in grants during in the last year – up from just over £11,000 in the previous year – which went towards helping young people and their families with the considerable costs associated with their sports.

“To continue our work, the Trust needs to raise funds each year and our main source of fundraising comes from the annual ball.

“The ball has be brilliantly supported since 2013 and has now become a fixture in the social calendar.

"It is sure to be a great night again.”
