A GALASHIELS man who admitted a string of offending has been jailed for almost 15 months at Selkirk Sheriff Court.

Jordan Cunningham received prison sentences totalling 464 days after pleading guilty to charges on three separate complaints.

The 21-year-old admitted a stalking charge involving a woman he had a brief relationship with.

Cunningham engaged in a course of conduct likely to cause her fear and alarm at her home in Wood Street and elsewhere in Galashiels between August and October.

The woman, who suffers from a bipolar disorder, had a one night stand with Cunningham following the break-up of a 11 month relationship with her partner.

She described her condition at the time as "manic" and realised it had not been a good idea being involved with him and tried to distance himself from her.

But depute fiscal Tessa Bradley said Cunningham appeared to be "obsessed" with the woman and wanted a relationship with her.

She narrated six particular incidents during the period culminating in Cunningham making threats towards her saying, 'my boys are coming for you' and also messages sent to her former partner which the woman described as the final straw and the police were called.

Cunningham also pleaded guilty to a charge of threatening or abusive behaviour towards another woman at a house in Gala Park on Saturday, December 3 following a drinking session in her home.

He also admitted breaching his home curfew later that night by being in the Bridge Inn public house and struggling violently with two police officers who were trying to detain him before running off.

Sheriff Peter Paterson told Cunningham: "There is no alternative to a custodial sentence."

The jail sentences totalling 464 days were back-dated to December 5 when Cunningham was first remanded in custody.
