PLANS have been unveiled to turn a derelict former school into housing.
Phingask Estates wants to convert the former Victorian school building in to two four-bedroom properties.
The Galashiels Road classrooms were closed 17 years ago following the opening of a new primary in the village.
And over the years they have fallen into a poor state with extensive dry rot and signs of subsidence.
A spokesman for the developers said: "Since its closure in 2000, the school has been unoccupied and has fallen into a state of disrepair.
"Significant outbreaks of dry rot have forced the removal of vast areas of internal floor and wall timbers.
"It is noted that the north western addition is not tied back to the main building and is showing signs of subsidence."
The full planning application is for the partial demolition of an flat-roofed extension and the repair and conversion of the main Victorian building.
The plans will be considered by Scottish Borders Council over the coming weeks.
