OFFICERS in the Borders are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted in Kelso.

The incident happened around 4.30pm on Monday, February 13 in the Co-op car park at High Croft.

The 44-year-old victim was in the car park with her son when she was approached, verbally abused and slapped to the face by a man that she’d had an earlier confrontation with.

The man thereafter left the car park in a large black 15 plate vehicle.

The suspect is described as a white male, aged 25-30, with a plump build, round face and short dark hair.

Constable Alex Cain of Kelso Police Station said: “This was a very frightening ordeal for the woman as it was witnessed by her son who became highly distressed and agitated after.

“I’m asking for anyone who was within the car park at the time and that can assist police with their enquiries to come forward.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
