‘THERE is nothing half so much worth doing, as messing about in boats, simply messing about in boats.’
The children from Forms 3, 4 and 5 at St Mary’s School in Melrose would certainly agree having recently staged their production of the age old classic ‘Wind in the Willows’.
A total of 56 children took to the stage during the second week of February to delight audiences with their tale of Mr Toad, his good friends Ratty, Mole, Badger and of course all the river creatures around Toad Hall.
Ollie dG, Stewart M, Imo B, Willa H and Elena dG are to be congratulated on their superb portrayal of the lead characters but were ably supported by the rest of the cast ranging in age from seven to ten years old.
Thanks go to the whole production team who helped pull together the set, props, lights and sound once again.
Special thanks to Dave Angus, Alan Watters, Andy Mason and Border Studio for their expertise.
St Mary's now look forward to taking a trip down the yellow brick road when the senior pupils stage The Wizard of Oz on Wednesday, March 22 (2pm and 7pm) and Thursday, March 23 (7pm).
All proceeds from the Wednesday evening performance will be donated to the Tour de Lauder.
Tickets are available from the school office – 01896 822517 or office@stmarysmelrose.org.uk.
