NEW housing at a former gap site in Innerleithen has been welcomed by the town's community council.
At the recent meeting on Monday, March 6, chairman of the Innerleithen Community Council Marshall Douglas praised the new affordable housing development, which was officially opened on Monday, February 20.
Councillors Graham Garvie, Stuart Bell and Frances Renton joined leader of Scottish Borders Council David Parker at the ceremony for the new properties at 41/43 High Steet and 10/14 Waverley Road.
The previous eyesore gap site had been a bone of contention for well over two decades in the town.
