Gala Tempest 28

Linton Reivers 5

GALA Tempest stormed to their third consecutive division two win in the Borders Adult Netball League on Sunday.

Playing the Linton Reivers at Peebles High School, the local team got off to a shaky start with the Reivers galloping into the lead in the early minutes of the first quarter.

However, Tempest rallied, equalising and going on to score another eight goals to lead 9-1.

The second quarter saw the teams more evenly matched with Tempest netting six goals to the Reiver’s four as both teams had an equal amount of possession.

The second quarter ended 15-5 to Tempest.

Tempest capitalised on several rebounds in the third quarter as the Linton team failed to find the net, and the Gala shooters scored another seven goals to take them into a 22-5 lead.

The final quarter saw the Reivers denied any further goals with some superb defence from Tempest and another six goals netted.

The final score was 28-5 to Tempest.

Galashiels Academy pupil Caris Brus, Tempest’s GD/WD/GK, gained her third Fair Play award of the season following some superb interceptions throughout the match.

Each team has two more matches to play before the winning side is crowned division two champions.

In next week’s fixtures, Tempest plays Tweeddale Tigers, while Linton Reivers face Storm, and Earlston plays the Pumas.
