A TIMETABLE of improvement works to several roads in Tweeddale has been revealed.

Road networks across Peebles including the town's High Street, Connor Street, Caledonian Road and Bonnington Road are among those set to receive improvements this month.

The works follow an announcement last September by SBC stating the £2.4m added to the council's budget for this financial year has allowed the prioritisation of a number of roads schemes in Peebles.

A council spokesperson said: “There is £120,000 allocated for resurfacing of the High Street, but also £75,000 for resurfacing Connor Street. These are new schemes of work, and there is new work scheduled for carriageway patching in March, this month, on both Caledonian Road and Bonnington Road.

Other new schemes in Tweeddale scheduled for this financial year include; the A701 Boundary to Tweedsmuir, the A703 from Peebles to Leadburn, the B710 from Caddon Hough to the Bowland Junction plus the road along Leithen Crescent and Leithen Mills.

All of those works are scheduled for carriage way patching.

Also on the A72, the Nest Roundabout by Clovenfords is set to receive resurfacing works.

Details have also been revealed of an allocation for £307,000 for flood scheme preparations across Tweeddale.

The council spokesperson added: “At the Executive meeting on Monday, March 7, a series of block allocations were agreed of Council finance. The allocation of £307,000 for flood scheme preparations for Peebles, Innerleithen & Broughton was also approved.

"This will be a complex piece of work and the first phase of money, over three years, is to scope out the scale of a full flood protection scheme for these communities.

"It is recognised by SEPA, the environment agency, that the Peebles and district scheme is a priority scheme across the whole of Scotland.”

Road works on all roads in the Borders, including trunk roads, are listed on the Scottish Road Works Register website which allows road users to search a route to see if any road works are planned.
