FORECASTERS have warned of Snow, Ice and possible lightning across the Borders and Peeblesshire this evening.
The team at the Met Office have issued a Yellow 'Be Aware' warning, which comes into effect from 8pm tonight (Monday, March 20) until 10am on Tuesday, March 21.
The warning states: "Showers on Monday evening, overnight and into Tuesday morning will fall increasingly as snow and hail, with accumulations mainly on hills but locally to lower levels too.
"Ice is also likely to form on untreated surfaces, whilst lightning may be an additional hazard.
"This may lead to some transport disruption and difficult driving conditions."
Scottish Borders Council have announced that gritters will be out on all first priority routes from 6pm tonight (Monday, March 20).
The local authority have said they will monitor the weather overnight and be out again to grit the roads and footpaths at 6am on Tuesday morning.
