MELROSE and District Community Council has been granted £1,000 for its Christmas lights fund.
The money was donated by the town's new Co-op in partnership with Dickie and Moore, who built the store.
At Wednesday's Community Council meeting, Jackie Wilson, customer team member at the shop, handed a cheque to community councillor Robin Chisholm and chairman William Windram, to thank the town for its patience while the work was being carried out.
After the meeting, Robin told the Border Telegraph: "We have received £1,000 from the Co-op and its contractors and we are absolutely delighted.
"Our current lights are getting older, so this money will help us buy some new equipment to keep it fresh.
"The equipment is not cheap to buy, so this very generous donation is very much appreciated."
