POLICE have warned residents in several Border towns to be aware of bogus charity collections.
The warning follows recent reports of dubious charity collectors visiting pubs and shops in the towns of Galashiels, Innerleithen and Peebles.
A statement from Police Scotland said: "Officers would like to remind people to ensure that anyone asking for donations for charities should carry official identification, letters of accreditation and official collection tins."
Anyone with concerns about the legitimacy of charity collectors can contact police on 101.
