A BORDERS woman celebrated her 100th birthday last week in Galashiels.
Freda Bryson, who was born during World War I, is a resident at Waverley Residential Care Home.
She enjoyed her landmark celebrations with members of her family as well as staff at the home.
During her birthday party, which took place last Wednesday, Freda opened several birthday cards from her family and friends.
And there was one extra special card delivered all the way from Buckingham Palace from HM Queen Elizabeth II.
Freda's daughter Jennifer White told the Border Telegraph: "We had a wonderful day to celebrate my mum's birthday. My mum moved to Galashiels soon after getting married in 1942 and used work in the town."
Amongst the guests last Wednesday was Freda’s little sister – 93-year-old Muriel Virtue.
Freda enjoyed a lunch rounded off with some chocolate birthday cake.
